Façade Improvement Program
The Neighborhood business districts are the front door of Minneapolis neighborhoods. A welcoming, vibrant business corridor sends a powerful, positive message, just as a poorly maintained or vacant row of storefronts conveys a negative impression.  Funded by the City of Minneapolis, the Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program works to revitalize and sustain the economic vitality of Greater Longfellow's commercial districts through public/private investments in façade projects for commercial properties. Façade improvements make an aesthetic impact, improving the appearance of individual buildings and consequently entire commercial districts.

The Longfellow Business Association works with partner organizations Redesign and Lake Street Council to administer these matching grants of up to $5,000 per storefront.  Eligible businesses include those along Lake Street and Minnehaha and within a half mile radius of LRT stations.  Eligible improvements include: exterior painting, doors, windows, lighting, signage, awnings, murals and more!  To get started, click on the links for our partner organizations above.

Business Technical Assistance Program (B-TAP)
The City of Minneapolis created B-TAP to provide consulting support to small and medium sized businesses.  The LBA works with partner organizations Redesign and Lake Street Council to provide technical assistance and financial support to existing or new businesses looking to invest in their properties. They are able to customize the type of assistance offered based on the owners’ needs. Examples include financial feasibility analysis, business licensing, payroll and accounting, vendor and contractor referrals, construction management, funding towards branding, interior or façade design. Learn more about B-TAP or reach out directly to our partners through the links above.
