THE LONGFELLOW COMMUNITY includes the Longfellow, Cooper, Howe, and Hiawatha neighborhoods. We are home to more than 22,000 residents, over 600 businesses, 4 schools, 22 churches, 4 parks, the Mississippi River Gorge, Midtown Greenway and the Minnehaha Falls Park.

  • The LBA has launched a new campaign, called "Buy Local. Buy Longfellow." You can learn all about it (and find some great deals from local shops!) at the website, www.buylongfellow.com

Mission of the Longfellow Business Association

The LBA exists to insure a vibrant business climate for the area by:

  • Monitoring issues that impact area businesses

  • Facilitating communication between area businesses

  • Providing business development resources

  • Supporting the greater Longfellow Community

What We Do

The LBA carries out its mission by:

  • Community Building & Resource Sharing

  • Updating members on our work in the community

  • Sponsorship and development of the Longfellow Business Directory

  • Supporting area schools' leadership development and business education programs

Area Beautification

  • Graffiti Removal Information

  • Sponsorship of the Lake Street Ambassadors program which employs youth to clean up trash in the Lake Street corridor

  • Adopt-a-Litter container program

Community & Economic Development

  • Participate in the redevelopment projects

  • Continued involvement in development and positive change along our major commercial corridors including Lake Street, Hiawatha Avenue, Minnehaha Avenue and Snelling/Dight Avenues

  • LBA has two community advisory members working on Hennepin County Community Works Hiawatha-Minnehaha Project

  • Provides business development resources available from City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development and other community partners

  • Mentorship program for new businesses
